Security and privacy
Since an IBAN is nothing more than an enhanced bank account number, account holders should handle them with the same security considerations as they handle conventional bank account numbers. If only eight characters code is given, it is assumed that it refers to the primary office. As an inherent part of international transactions, bank swift code is used to transfer money between banks, particularly for telegraphic transfers and wire transfers.
